Ted Scott is a veteran American professional golf caddie who has established himself as one of the most successful loopers in PGA Tour history. With a career spanning over two decades, Scott has guided world-class golfers to major championship victories and international acclaim. Today, he is widely recognized for his high-profile partnership with World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler.
Early Life and Background
Born in Los Angeles, California, Ted Scott grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he developed a deep passion for athletics. Before entering the professional golf world, he was an accomplished competitive foosball player who won the amateur doubles world championship in 1994. He also pursued playing golf on mini-tours before discovering his true talent lay in caddying and course management.
Scott officially began his professional caddying career in 1999 after failing to qualify for a mini-tour event in Louisiana. He quickly transitioned into looping for PGA Tour players such as Grant Waite, Paul Azinger, and Olin Browne. These early experiences allowed him to refine his strategic decision-making skills on elite golf courses.
Caddying Career and Partnership with Bubba Watson
Ted Scott achieved his first wave of major national recognition while working with two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson. Their professional relationship spanned 15 years, during which Scott was on the bag for 12 PGA Tour victories. Among these triumphs were two Green Jacket victories at Augusta National in 2012 and 2014.
The duo parted ways amicably in 2021 as Scott briefly considered stepping away from full-time tour duties to focus on golf instruction. However, his unique ability to read greens, calculate wind variables, and keep players calm under pressure kept him in high demand across the PGA Tour. Soon after, a new career opportunity presented itself with an emerging superstar.
Historic Success with Scottie Scheffler
In November 2021, Ted Scott officially teamed up with Scottie Scheffler, initiating one of the most dominant runs in modern golf history. Together, the pair secured multiple PGA Tour victories, major titles, and an Olympic gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games. Scott was on the bag for Scheffler's Masters victories in 2022 and 2024, as well as his major triumphs in 2025.
Due to Scheffler's unprecedented tournament dominance, Scott has earned millions of dollars, placing him among the highest-earning caddies in golf history. Off the course, Scott is widely admired for his strong faith, charitable endeavors in Louisiana, and engaging online presence. His leadership and steady demeanor continue to make him an invaluable asset to Scheffler's career.
